About ROM
Research and Organization Management, Inc., (ROM) is a strategy and performance-improvement management consulting firm. ROM was created in 1994 to fill a gap in business research, strategy development and high-level decision support for organizations whose performance is acceptable but not exceptional. We work with executives to identify those strategic, operational, and cultural issues critical to success that are currently underperforming and then create consensus and action plans to align operations and management. ROM provides these diagnostic, planning, implementation, and evaluation services for public, private and institutional clients, with an emphasis on technology and research organizations. Although we most often work with science, R&D and technology organizations, we work with all kinds of organizations (see our
client list) to improve management and performance.

Finding the Sharpest in the Bunch

Why Should You Work With ROM?
You have many advisory firms from which to choose. One may bring technical expertise is a specific discipline, another independence and objectivity, and another access to markets and referrals.  ROM is a small management advisory firm, with the limitations and advantages this brings

We act as a trusted advisor, not just a technical service provider. You entrust a great deal to an outside advisor and you should be confident that he or she has your long-term personal as well as professional interests in mind. What we do affects the services you provide your customers, your own career, your assets, and the lives of your staff. We don't take this responsibility lightly.

We don't claim to be right for every client. We know what we don't know. We don't measure our success by how large we grow but on how well your needs are met. We focus on certain needs of types of organizations of a certain size with specific concerns. Because we subscribe to the IMC USA Code of Ethics that governs the US management consulting profession, we turn down assignments for which we are not fully qualified.

We use our size and network to your advantage. We are not a large firm with a full complement of experts on staff. The benefit to you is significantly reduced overhead costs. We overcome what some may see as a potential staffing limitation by access to a large network of specialists in marketing, production, IT, budgeting, workforce development, strategy, etc. However, we do have a network of 1,000 Certified Management Consultants across the US and 10,000 around the world with whom to team, or refer you to, as your needs require. This business model for consulting services is in the best interests of the client and has been growing for a decade.

A commitment to clients has become a cliche, but read some testimonials about ROM to get a sense of how clients, colleagues and those in our profession feel. They give a sense of how we operate and what we mean to those we work with.

Deep involvement in the management consulting profession is a testament to a commitment to technical competence and high standards of professional conduct. ROM fully supports the Institute of Management Consultants USA, the premier professional association and sole certifying body for management consultants in the US. All ROM teams are led by a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), the global standard for management consulting, accepted in and afforded international reciprocity by 43 nations. Our president, Mark Haas CMC, is Chair of the national Board of Directors of IMC USA.

Ethics and Professional Conduct
ROM adheres to the highest standards of professional ethics, placing independence and objectivity and the avoidance of appearance and fact of conflict of interest above all other principles. ROM President, Mark Haas CMC, is the past Ethics Chair of the Institute of Management Consultants USA, the premier professional association and sole certifying body for management consultants in the US. During his tenure, Mr. Haas strengthened the IMC USA Code of Ethics, broadened ethics examinations for certification, and developed tough new enforcement protocols for violations of the Code. All consultants working for ROM are subject to the Code and its enforcement procedures. See the IMC USA Code of Ethics.
